Greater Spokane at a Glance
Located just west of the Idaho border
in eastern Washington,
the Greater Spokane area offers an abundance of attractions and activities in
a region known as the Inland Northwest. Home of the Northwest
Museum of Arts and Culture, Spokane
also hosts the Spokane
Symphony Orchestra and the Spokane
Jazz Orchestra. The city's Metropolitan
Performing Arts Center houses concerts, theatrical performances, ballets and
art displays. In the winter, try cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling
and ice skating, or visit in the summer for waterskiing, camping and rock climbing.
From October through April, take in a Spokane
Chiefs hockey game at the Spokane
Veterans Memorial Arena. Outside of Spokane, visit Cheney,
the home of Eastern
Washington University and the Turnbull
National Wildlife Refuge. Each September the annual Spokane
County Interstate Fair is held at the Spokane
County Fair and Expo Center.
